Ammo Act takes aim at DHS
Republicans Representatives have proposed a bill that would stop the DHS (Department of Homeland Security) from buying hundreds of millions of rounds of ammo. They have over the past year purchased enough bullets, to wage a twenty-four year war, using the same level of munitions that where used during the Vietnam war.

As the public learned in a House committee hearing this week, the Department of Homeland Security has two years worth of ammo on hand and allots nearly 1,000 more rounds of ammunition for DHS officers than is used on average by our Army officers in active Warzones”
Inhofe said. “The AMMO Act of 2013 will enforce transparency and accountability of federal agencies’ ammunition supply while also protecting law-abiding citizens access to these resources.”
The AMMO Act would also give the Government Accountability Office (GAO) the task ro audit federal agencies purchases of ammunition.
It was learned that DHS already had 2 years of ammunition on hand before it made a 750 million round purchase last year.
