238,000 Small Businesses failed between 2008 – 2010
Cenus data shows 223.800 small businesses failed during 2008 to 2010. This represents a loss of 238,841 businesses and nearly 3.5 million jobs. While a definitive figure on how many small businesses closed during the recession is hard to come by as the definition of “small business is very broad based. The recession technically started in December 2007 and ended in June 2009. Census data only counts the number of new businesses starting in March of each year.
Obama gave a speech back in 2010, stating that the economy was moving in the right direction. Apparently into a spiral abyss of economic ruin, with long term unemployed at nearly 20 million, devaluation of the dollar, record national debt and continued economic policies that further drag the country closer to economic ruin.
