Facebook is the latest in social platforms watching users’ chats for criminal activity and other “suspicious behavior” and notifying police if any suspicious behavior is detected.

They  are monitoring chats and posts for words, phrases, or other activity which they consider bad and should something go off, a report is sent to Facebook staff who go through and read your chats, and possibly take over your account or notify police.

The monitoring came to light in the wake of a interview which the company’s Chief Security Officer Joe Sullivan gave to Reuters
