Department of Justice Investigate Internet Datacaps

The investigation is prompted by TV viewers’ consumption habits shift from traditional cable bundles to video services such as Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube. The shift has caused cable companies to spend billions of dollars on their networks and seeing traditional TV subscriptions rapidly decline.

The Justice Department is focusing its investigation on the data caps cable companies have employed to deal with the internet video usage. Video Service providers such as  Netflix say the caps are designed to prevent customers from defecting to online video services for their programming
