“Friday evening, in a motion to dismiss Jewel v. NSA, EFF’s litigation against the National Security Agency for the warrant-less wiretapping of countless Americans, the Obama Administration’s made two deeply troubling arguments.
First, they argued, exactly as the Bush Administration did on countless occasions, that the state secrets privilege requires the court to dismiss the issue out of hand. They argue that simply allowing the case to continue “would cause exceptionally grave harm to national security.” As in the past, this is a blatant ploy to dismiss the litigation without allowing the courts to consider the evidence.” Communism anyone ? –Source EFF

The Obama administration trying not to re brand everything to make failed polices seem new , and appear less threatening has re-branded “The War on Terror” and “terrorism,” to “man-caused” disasters. Next up, illegal immigrants to be re-branded “non compliant foreign resident” and convicted felon to ” certified civilly challenged” Lou Dobbs head set to explode.
Alabama Legislator wants to castrate sex offenders
“A legislator in Alabama has filed a bill that would require the state surgically to castrate convicted child molesters before releasing them from prison. The bill, sponsored by Democratic Representative Steve Hurst of Mumford, also says the offender must pay the cost of the surgery.” —Source The Guardian

America gets spied upon
In some terrific investigative journalism, The New York Times has uncovered information that the National Security Agency (NSA) has been eavesdropping on people within the United States since 2002. This signals a drastic departure from the agency’s longstanding rules, and indicates that the government permitted extraordinary exceptions to laws and regulations after the World Trade Center was attacked in 2001. Domestic Spying is exactly the sort of thing that is against the very fabric of the Bill of Rights. Source NyTimes
