Many folks take pictures of various things and post them to Facebook, Twitter, or their personal blog, what they do not know is now days images from gps enabled devices like smart phones, are geo-tagged.

Many folks take pictures of various things and post them to Facebook, Twitter, or their personal blog, what they do not know is now days images from gps enabled devices like smart phones, are geo-tagged.

Geo Tagging is nothing new, in fact GPS technology has been around nearly three decades. What is new, is the use of Geo tags in consumer products, namely smart phones. When images are taken with most internet enabled smart phones, the exact location of where and when that image was taken is often embedded directly into the image.

Next time you take a picture you may wish to think twice about where you took it before you post it online, as sites such as Icanstalkyou point out, just how easy it is to find someone with just a picture
