Man sentenced to death for Sorcery

A Lebanese national charged with sorcery and sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia is scheduled to be beheaded on Friday.

Ali Hussain Sibat, was arrested by Saudi Arabia’s religious police ( Mutawa’een) and charged with sorcery while visiting the country in May 2008. Sibat was in Saudi Arabia to perform the Islamic religious pilgrimage.

Sibat was then put on trial in November 2009, Saudi court of Medina found him guilty an of Sorcery d sentenced him to death.


The lawyer for Ali Hussain Sibat, said “his family was informed of the upcoming execution. Her contacts inside the Saudi Government said they plan on carrying out the execution.

Sibat is the former host of a call-in show that aired on Beirut-based TV channel “Sheherazade.”  Sibat would predict the future on his show and give out advice to his audience.
